Two centuries later Patrick has acquired a remarkable onomastic repertoire...: 'I have found four names for Patrick...: the saint (was named) Magonus, that is, famous; Succetus, that is, god of war; Patricius, that is, father of the citizens; Cothirthiacus, because he served four houses of druids.'
The opening words of Ludwig Bieler's Libri epistolarum sancti Patricii episcopi, published in 1951, reflect this information. 'Magonus Sucatus Patricius, generally known as Saint Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland, has so far been almost completely neglected by students of Latin language and literature'. One can imagine that students of Latin, seeing such a name, would feel strongly tempted to run in the opposite direction. It is characteristic of the dubious selectiveness too often practised in Patrician studies that Cothirthiacus has been quietly dropped from this tripartite latinate name.

Вообще говоря, "Магон Суккат Патриций" - уже неслабо звучит. А если Котиртиака добавить, так и совсем сурово получится.
